Wilma Grace Morey-Lang
MOREY-LANG, Wilma Grace – Age 85, of Sutherlin, went to be with the Lord on March 24, 1998 in the foster home of Chantele and Clay Bigbee and their children. They made her passage easier and with much love. Wilma was born on January 20, 1913, 1913 at Tilton, Nebraska to Clyde and Ella Maude (Nelson) Erskine. She weighed in at 2 pounds 6 ounces and starter her life in a shoe box by the wood stove. On September 10k 1932 at Branson, Missouri she married Leroy Morey. They lived in Redding, California while they raised their children. It was during this time that Wilma became a foster mother. During the years she had close to 200 foster children and would have loved to had more. Wilma loved children, sewing and her African violets. She put God first in all that she did. Wilma and Leroy moved to Sutherlin in 1969. Leroy passed away in 1976. Wilma was a member of the Sutherlin Seventh Day Adventist Church and was active in Community Services for the church. She loved going to Dorcus every week to make quilts with her friends. Wilma met Gorden "Scott" Lang at church and they were married on September 9, 1987. They had three wonderful years together before Scott went to be with the Lord in 1990. Wilma was also a 50 year member of the Grange. She is survived by four daughters, Carol Amaral and husband Walter of Hawaii, Joyce Knight and husband John of Mississippi, Diane Davis and husband Rick of Missouri and Heidi Boggs and husband Bill of Sutherlin; one son, Roger Morey and wife Yvonne of Oakland, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, John Erskine of Utah; two sisters, Beth Hunter of Utah and Clara Barrow of Idaho; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Vivian Lang and their children of Canyonville. She was also preceded in death by; two infant sons, Harry and Charles; her parents; two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Firs, Sutherlin. Pastor Phil Dunham will officiate. Private interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Sutherlin. Those who wish may pay their respects on Sunday, March 19, 1998 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Chapel of the Firs. At the family's request contributions may be made in Mrs. Morey-Lang's memory to Mercy Hospice, 2700 Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, Oregon 97470. CHAPEL OF THE FIRS, Sutherlin is in charge of arrangements.
