Funeral service for Andy Leon Bowen, 82, of Chickasha will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah.

ANDY LEON BOWEN was born April 23, 1929, in Ninnekah, the son of John Henry and Susie Lavina (Thompson) Bowen. He died Sept. 19, 2011 in Oklahoma City.

Andy was born and raised in Ninnekah. He graduated from Alex High School in 1948. He and Rowena Campbell were married July 31, 1948, in Chickasha. They moved to California in 1955. Andy owned and operated Roadrunners Service while in California. They moved to the state of Washington in 1977, where he worked for Evergreen Tire Service. In 1989, they moved back to Grady County.

Andy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah. He served in the National Guard.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, and coin collecting.

Andy was preceded in death by parents, infant son, three sisters, and seven brothers

Survivors include: wife: Rowena Bowen; five childen: Lonnell Newcum and husband, Richard, Allen Bowen and wife, Carol, Andrea Gecho and husband, Joe, Mark Bowen and wife, Carolyn, Sherry Nygaard and husband, Eldon; a brother: Johnnie Bowen and wife, Elizabeth, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren

Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery, Pocasset, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Youth Organizations at First Baptist Church of Ninnekah.
