Funeral services for Walter Baum, a former Decatur resident, will be Thursday in Gary, IN.
The body will be cremated.
Mr. Baum, 63, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday in his home in Gary, IN. He had been in failing health for several months.
Mr. Baum lived in Decatur from 1920 to 1941 when he moved to Gary, IN, where he had lived since.
He was born 01Mar1900, in Mortontown, KY, a son of Albert & Maude Day Baum.
Mr. Baum was a brick mason for a steel mill.
He married Ruth Poe in 1921 in Decatur.
Mr. Baum was a member of the Christian Science Church in Gary, IN.
Surviving are his wife; 1 son, Bernard & 1 daughter Mrs. Virginia Larson, both of Gary, IN; 5 brothers, Chester, Marvin, Wilbur, Delmar, all of Decatur; Floyd, Sacramento, CA; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mable Carrington, Mrs. Reba Cones, both of Peoria; 9 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren.
