Deacon Samuel married Sarah, daughter of Amos and Eleanor (Morse) Bryant in 1805. In 1808 they produced a son, Samuel Francis Smith the poet, editor, minister and most famous for writing the lyrics to the patriotic song "America" currently referred to as "My Country Tis of Thee".
