Olive Iona Howes of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the age of 89 years, joining her beloved husband James Edward Howes, who predeceased her in 1979.

Olive was born into a Cochrane farming family where she developed her love of gardening. She attended Normal School in Calgary, and taught in a one room country school. Olive married Jim in Cochrane and resided there for many years where they raised their family.

Olive is survived by her loving family, son and daughter-in-law Don and Diane Howes of Calgary, daughter Sheila Boyle of Calgary, daughter and son-in-law Betty and Ken Sheptycki of Lamont, daughter and son-in-law Diane and John Mills of Calgary, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and her sister Laura Peppard of Turner Valley.

A private family graveside service will be held at Queen's Park Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
