Pedro Manuel Guardado, 82, St. Joseph, died Sunday, March 5, 1989, at a local hospital.
Mr. Guardado was born in San Jeronimo, Zacatazas, Mexico, and lived in St. joseph most of his life since 1912.
He was employed as a butcher at swift & Co. for 50 years, and was a member of the St. Patricks Catholic Church. Mr Guardado initiated and conducted the Annual Dedication & Novena & Procession of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Holy Rosary Church and was a great worker of the annual Mexican Fiesta at Holy Rosary. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society.
Mr. Guardado was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen.
Surviving: his wife, Josephine Guardado to whom he was married 53 years, of the home; eight sons, Louis, Sterling Colo., Robert, Kansas City, Mo., Raymond, Michael, Charles, Pedro Jr., Frank, and Albert, all of St. Joseph; eight daughters, Juanita Cruz, Colorado Springs, Colo., Carmen Ellis, Blue Springs, Mo., Lupe Schultz, Wathena, Kan., Theresa Westcotte, Pauline Mejia, Delores Dyer, Anna Marie Reno, and Maggie Schnabel, all of St. Joseph; a sister Petra Jimenez, St. Joseph; 28 grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Wednesday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial, Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel where friends may call after noon today.
