James Russell "Jim" Arganbright
Funeral service for James Russell 'Jim' Arganbright, 83, of Tuttle, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Tuttle.
Jim was born June 22, 1925 in Jet, Oklahoma the son of Russell James and Carrie Appleton Arganbright.
He went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2009 after a lengthy illness.Jim served in the United States Navy during World War II as an ensign and functioned as a supply officer and skipper on an LCT. He later earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma in 1948.
Jim married Mary Lee Adams and initially lived and worked in Anadarko. They moved to Chickasha where they raised their four children. After this marriage ended in divorce, Jim married Annie Greene on July 14, 1964 and created their blended family of five children. Jim and Ann moved to Tuttle after purchasing The Star Pharmacy on April 1, 1966. Jim served the public as a dedicated pharmacist for 59 years, with 40 of these years in Tuttle. Jim lived his life as a devoted Christian, husband, and father. He was a servant, teacher and leader to his family, to the First Baptist Church, and to the entire community of Tuttle. Jim strongly valued education and instilled the love learning to his entire family and to many friends. He was a musician at heart and enjoyed playing his clarinet, marching up to the age 80 in the OU Alumni Band, and playing with his music group of many years. Jim and Ann were avid football fans to both OU and to the Tuttle Tigers. Jim's life verse was Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church, The American Legion, and was past president of the Oklahoma Pharmaceutical Association. He was also a member of the Masons, Lions Club, Rotary Club, and Kiwanis Club. Jim belonged to the Republican Party and served on the Grady County Republican Committee. He served on the Board of Directors of Grady Memorial Hospital for 36 years and also was Chairman of the Board of the Sooner State Bank until his health declined.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ann of 44 years, and his daughter Kay Franklin.
Survivors include: Reverend Joseph Arganbright of Oklahoma City, Joe Franklin and wife Darla of Tuttle, Dr. Kim Arganbright and wife Paula of Weatherford Kristie Scears and husband Mike of Midwest City, Karol Andrew and husband Bill of Tulsa, 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and lifetime friend Claude Wilbur Gillett of Chickasha.
The family would like to thank his many loving caregivers at Manor Care Nursing Facility of Midwest City where Jim resided the last year of his life.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle.
