ADELAIDA "MANA" LUCERO, 90, of El Rito died Monday.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abel and Petra Lucero; brothers, Lazaro Lucero and Abel Lucero Jr.; and sister, Sister Marie Lucero.
She is survived by her sisters, Bernice Stout, Maxine Hagge and husband Bill, and Ida Lucero; brother, Raymond Lucero and wife Judy; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis Cathedral with burial to follow at Santa Fe Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 417 Rodeo Road A reception will immediately follow at the Crispin Room at St. Francis Cathedral. Santa Fe Funeral Options, (505) 989-7032.
MARIA TOMASITA OTERO, 73, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Tuesday at the Vida Encantada Rehab & Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born in Las Vegas, N.M. She was a former resident of Las Gallinas. She retired from Las Vegas Medical Center after 13 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fidel and Petrita Ortega; husband, Charlie Otero; brothers, Ruben Ortega, Mike Ortega, Secundino Ortega and Pete Ortega; sisters, Stella Sandoval and Pola Montano; and longtime partner, Edd Waldo.
She is survived by her children, Charlie Otero and wife Sue of Las Cruces, Bertha Jimenez and husband Max, and Liz Garcia and husband Jeff, all of Las Vegas, N.M., Gloria Jean Mejillas and husband Marcos of Wagon Mound, and Edward Paul Waldo and wife Anna of Albuquerque; children whom she raised, Alfred Waldo and wife Yvonne of Las Vegas, N.M., Wanda Waldo of Las Vegas, Nev., Glenn Waldo of Albuquerque, Albert Waldo of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Darlene Barron and husband Juan Antonio of Nipomo, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held all day today at the Rogers Chapel where friends and family may call until the rosary. A rosary will be recited at 7 tonight at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, N.M. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Santo Nino Church in Las Gallinas with burial to follow at the Santo Nino Cemetery.
