McLaglen, which was written for the screen by William Roberts, Don Tait, and Dick Nelson, and which also starred George Peppard, Diana Muldaur, Charles Seel, John Vernon, and Richard Loo, tells the story of after taking the fall for a train robbery, Harker Fleet is released from prison and exacts revenge on his former partners who cheated him out of his share. He retired from acting shortly thereafter. During his acting career, he also used the name Lane Arnold and Lane R. Chandler. Besides acting, he was also a successful businessman who had many industrial and property holdings. On an interesting note, he was good friends with actor Gary Cooper, and he was also screen tested for the role of the 'Frankenstein Monster,' which was eventually played by Glenn Strange, in the Sci-fi horror fantasy film, "House of Frankenstein" (1944). He passed away following a battle with heart disease in Los Angeles, California, on September 14, 1972, at the age of 73. His funeral service and cremation were held through the Pierce Brothers Hollywood Mortuary and he was buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California. He never married nor had any children.
