A memorial service was held at the Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann, Saturday, Sept. 14, for Elizabeth (Betty) Alderson, 79, of Hermann, who died Monday, Sept. 9, 1996, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born August 29, 1917, a daughter of Clarence E. and Hazel E. Cloudy Hulburd. She was married to Edward K. Hine Sr. at Seattle, Wash., from 1942 to 1962. She was married to John L. Alderson, August 31, 1968. The Aldersons resided in Concord and Vacaville, Calif., before coming to Hermann in 1973. Mrs. Alderson attended Mary Institute in St. Louis and Finch College in New York. During World War II she was active in the Northern New Jersey Blood Bank. During her residency in North Cardwell, N.J., from 1942 to 1962, she was a member of the PTA and was active in crafts. In Hermann, she was a member of the Garden Club, Weavers' Guild an Historic Hermann and was active in cancer support activities.
Surviving are her husband, John L. Alderson, Sr. of Hermann; three sons, Edward K. Hine Jr. of Louisville, Colo., Gregory S. Hine of boulder, Colo., and Henry B. Hine of Brentwood, Tenn.; one sister, Harriet N. Nalley of New York; N.Y.; one brother, Earl S. Hulburd; three step-children, John L. Alderson, Jr. of Plano, Tex., Bradley Alderson of Acampo, Calif., and Molly Gilhooly of Kanehoe, Hawaii; and two grandchildren.
Memorials to Hermann Area District Hospital are suggested.
