Vernon Edward Pollard, 78, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011.

He was the son of the late E.A. Pollard and Louise (Broome) Ely.

Vernon was a proud combat US Army veteran having served in seventh infantry division, 31st company K, during the Korean Conflict, and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He took great pride in assisting his fellow veterans through the years.

Mr. Pollard is survived by his wife, Linda McCoy Pollard, son, James E. Pollard and wife, Meka Rumsey Pollard, of Anderson, SC; grandchildren: Chance Pollard and Charlee Pollard; stepsister, Betty Fenoff of Anderson, SC; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Mr. Pollard was predeceased by his brother, Zeb Pollard; his sister, Rometta Pollard; and his stepfather, Albert G. Ely.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
