Funeral service for Mr. Clifton Cartez Allen, 87, longtime resident of Ringling, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Ringling with the Rev. Mike Williams and son, Donald Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Ft. Sill Casualty Team. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Cartez was born October 17, 1923, south of Ringling to the late Mr. George W. Allen and Mrs. Minnie E. (Pitts) Allen. He departed this life Tuesday morning, September 13, 2011, at the Ardmore Veterans Home.

Cartez was raised south of Ringling attending his first eight years of school at Union Hill. He then attended the rest of his schooling at Ringling High School. He and the former Ms. Jewel Elizabeth Roberts were united in marriage on February 6, 1943, at Ringling. Soon after, Cartez joined the United States Army in August of 1943 and served honorably in WWII at Puerto Rico as part of the Motor Pool division. He was honorably discharged November 10, 1946, at Ft. Bragg. Cartez returned home and worked as a truck driver for Mistletoe Freight for 32 years. He also independently hauled cattle and livestock commercially for over 50 years. When he wasn't working, Cartez enjoyed hunting, especially squirrel hunting, and he loved to fish. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ringling.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Cartez Clifton Allen Jr.; grandson, Tyler Keeley; three brothers, Clarence, L.D. and Junior or "June Bug"; and four sisters, Clara, Estelle, Ozella and Amie.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jewel of the home; son, Donald Allen and wife, Kay Netta of Collinsville; brother, Don Allen of Oklahoma City; sister, Virginia Russell also of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, Chad, Shelley, Shane, Donelle, Mary Beth, Mark, and Theresa; 16 great-grandchildren; special niece, Shawna; two grand nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home in Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
