She was born Opha Roberta Viers to Walter James Viers and Beatrice Donna Everetts on Aug. 26, 1916 in Flint. She graduated from Dye High School in Flint in 1934.
Mrs. Hayes moved from Owosso to the Evart area in 1986. She worked as a nurse's aid at Memorial Hospital in Owosso. She was a member of the LeRoy Covenant Church, and enjoyed ceramics and wildlife watching.
Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ralph Billsbrough, Harry Sweetland and Max Hayes; two sisters; three brothers; and a great-granddaughter.
