Civil War Service - He enlisted Apr 23 1861 age 21. He mustered as a Private in Co K, Ohio 19th Inf. Reg. on 27 Apr 1861 at Camp Jackson, Ohio. He mustered out 31 Aug 1861 with the unit at Columbus, Ohio.

He mustered Aug 30 1862 as a sergeant in Co H, 104th OVI at Camp Massillon, Ohio. He was promoted to 1st Sergeant at the mustering and mustered out at that rank with the unit on Jul 17 1865 at Greensboro, NC.

He filed for an invalid's pension on Jul 12 1890, from Iowa, which was granted - Cert # 603073. His wife filed for a widow's pension on May 22 1908 from Minnesota which was granted - Cert # 664159.
