A.M. Ahalt Dies at 51
Agriculture educator Arthur Montraville Ahalt, professor and head of Agriculture Education for 11 years at the University of Maryland, died Friday evening at the Prince Georges County Hospital.
A prominent agricultural educator, Mr. Ahalt had been a member of the faculty at the University of Maryland since 1939.
He had been professor and head of agriculture education for the past 11 years. He authored experimental state bulletins and contributed many articles in vocational agriculture education.
He lived at College Park with his family.
Aged 51 years, he was born in Monesse, Pa., a son of Mrs. Alonza Joshua Ahalt and the late Mr. Ahalt.
In addition to his mother who now resides at Watsontown, Pa., he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Zeigler Ahalt, and two children: Mary Jane Ahalt and Arthur Ahalt, both at home; two brothers, Edward F. Ahalt, Hyattsville, and Rev. Harold A. Ahalt, Lutheran minister in Watsontown, Pa.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Gladhill funeral home in Middletown. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any expressions of sympathy be sent to Hope Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, College Park.
