Adkins, Reid Glenn
DANVILLE - Reid Glenn Adkins, 84, of 251 Jordan St., died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at his residence.
Born May 2, 1923, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Claude Adkins and the late Virgie Adkins Adkins.
Mr. Adkins lived most of his life in Danville. He owned and operated Reid Adkins Landscaping.
He was married to Verna Geraldine "Polly" Adkins Adkins.
In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by a son, Ray Adkins and wife, Sharon, of Blairs; a grandson, Joey Adkins and wife, Amanda, of Ringgold; a granddaughter, Jennifer Adkins, of Charlottesville; a brother, Robert Adkins, of Climax; three sisters, Kathleen Huggins, of Danville, Betty Mae Gibson and Barbara Jo Mills, both of Climax; a step-grandson, Michael V. Henderson II, of Bennettsville, S.C.; a step-great-grandson, Taylor Kaiden Moore, of Blairs; a step-great-granddaughter, Kyndall Vaughan Moore, also of Blairs; a great-grandson, Dylan Reid Adkins, of Ringgold; and a step-granddaughter, Michele Moore, of Blairs.
The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Adkins Family Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Oakes officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, at Barker Funeral Home; at other times they will be at the residence, 251 Jordan St.
Barker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
