Wardie Bell was the Granddaughter of Jack County Pioneer John More Leatherwood. She was raised in Borden County, Texas on her parents farm near Gail, Texas.

Her marriage to George W. Brewer was recorded in the Marley Family Bible on April 2, 1916. Wardie and George had three children and she was expecting their fourth when he was killed when a tornado struck their home on July 16, 1924.

MAN KILLED IN STORM
O'DONNEL, Texas, July 16th...George Brewer was killed and his wife and two of his children were injured late Wednesday when their home was wrecked by a tornado. A three year old child in Brewers arms was unharmed.

At about age 38 Wardie married William Hardy Daffern(68),and had three children by him...a daughter born in 1927 and a son in 1930 who died in 1938 and a third daughter Alma born in 1933. Wardie was a Seamstress/Dressmaker and supported herself and her five children after a diviorce from Daffern.

She spent the last eight years of her life in the Kerville State Hospital where she died on December 19, 1960.
