Leeman E. Faulkingham Sr., 86, a resident of Washington County, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at a Bangor hospital after a long illness. Leeman was born March 22, 1925, in Jonesport, son of the late John and Geneva (Beal) Faulkingham. A longtime resident of Beals and Addison, he enjoyed bowling with his friends and participated in league functions for many years. Leeman also had a passion for country music and played guitar with the Seacoast Ramblers, Al and Patty Howland, and The Islanders. His family remembers him as a lifelong lobster fisherman who loved his family and enjoyed simple pleasures. Leeman is survived by his wife of 40 years, Viola (Alley) Faulkingham of Addison; sons, Leeman E. Faulkingham Jr. and wife, Joni, of Beals and Richard J. Faulkingham and wife, Laurissa, of Sullivan; two beloved grandchildren, Lorenajane of Beals and Kason of Sullivan; sisters, Cindy Alley of Sibley, Mo., and Pearl Gray and husband, Clifford, of Brewer; sisters-in-law, Faye of Stonington and Lula of Beals; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four sisters, Bernice Griffin, Lovilla Alley, Adelaide Crowley and Edith Woodward; and six brothers, Harvey, Richard, Leslie, Albert, Leamont and Frankie. A private committal ceremony will be held at Sewell Field Cemetery, Beals, with Elder Clifford Gray, Leeman's brother-in-law, officiating. Those who desire may make donations in Leeman's memory to Pleasant River Ambulance Service, Columbia. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias.
