LECLAIRE, Iowa -- Thelma Glines, of LeClaire, Iowa, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at home. Celebration of Life services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a memorial fund to be established in Thelma's name. Mrs. Glines was born Oct. 25, 1939, to Clarence and Ethel Warren. She married Glen Glines in 1956 in Sheffield, Ark. He died in August of 1997. Thelma first worked as a nurse's aid at the former Davenport Osteopathic Hospital. In 1972 she went to work for Alcoa as one of the first female workers and helped pioneer the way for others. She retired from Alcoa in 1995 because of her declining health. Mrs. Glines was a member of the Vineyard Church of Davenport and the Alcoa Union No. 150. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, oil painting and most of all spending time with her family. Survivors include her mother, Ethel Warren, Pleasant Valley, Iowa; daughters, Glenda Betts, Iowa City, Iowa, Linda Jacobsen, LeClaire, Iowa; sons, Alen Glines, Moline, and Kenny Glines, Pleasant Valley, nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren with one more on the way; sisters, Margaret Kennedy, Mo., Clara Swain, Tenn.; and brother, Charles Warren, Ohio.
