Adeline Springthorpe was born in England in 1826. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1854 and, after losing her husband Elijah Sparks, emigrated to Utah.

On the voyage over she met recently widowed David Nathan Thomas and they married when they reached Utah. David had four children: Margaret (Price), Isaac, Sarah (Dyches), and Mary (Beal).

Adeline and David lived in Nephi, Kanosh, the Kingston United Order, and St. Johns, Arizona.

After her husband died, Adeline traveled to Manti to do temple work but died shortly after arriving there. She was buried in the Manti Cemetery.

Her husband, David Nathan Thomas, and her children, David John Thomas and Frances Ann Thomas Christensen, are buried in the St. Johns City Cemetery in St. Johns, Arizona.
