Moravia: Helen P. Dinkel, 85, of Moravia, formerly of King Ferry, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the Howd Nursing Home. Mrs. Dinkel was born December 11, 1925 in Staunton, Virginia, a daughter of the late Stuart and Carletta (Frye) Roudabush. A resident of King Ferry for most of her life, Helen was a graduate of the Ithaca Business School and was employed a number of years ago with the accounting department of the First National Bank of Ithaca. Following her marriage, Helen became a homemaker who devoted her life to her family and grandchildren. She was active for many years with the King Ferry Senior Citizens group. She is survived by her son, Michael (Vicki Flynn) Dinkel of Penfield; her two daughters, Pam Stanton (John) of Locke and Nancy Zakour (Ted) of King Ferry; three grandchildren, Justin and Tommy Stanton and Sarah Zakour; two sisters, Whanetia Culver of Moravia and Annabelle Bradley of Auburn; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Edwin L. Dinkel on March 2, 2005; by a brother, Marion Roudabush; and by four sisters, Virginia Davis, Elizabeth LaFave, Edith Morrow, and Elaine Reveal. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 9, at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 10117 Route 90, Genoa, with the Rev. Greg Wesley officiating. Interment will be in West Genoa Cemetery, King Ferry. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Contributions may be directed to Four Town Ambulance, Box 28, Moravia, NY 13118.
