Mr. William "Bill" Wesley Gable Jr., age 85 of Jonesboro, died at Southern Regional Medical Center on September 2, 2011. He was born in Newnan on May 8, 1926 to the late William Wesley Gable and Ina Ruth Thomas Gable. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific aboard the USS President Jackson. He was in law enforcement for 54 years, 32 years with the City of Atlanta Police Department. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Gibson Gable. Surviving are his son, William Wesley "Wes" Gable III of McDonough; granddaughter, Jessie Miller McLeod and her husband Phoenix; brother, Noell Lynn Gable of Griffin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at the Higgins Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. William L. Herndon officiating.
