Mherl Eyler Ahalt was born January 23, 1897, in Frederick County, Maryland, the son of Harmon L. and Anna Mary Eyler Ahalt. In 1920, in Frederick County, he married Margaret Elizabeth Buddenhagen, daughter of Joseph and Irene Fidinger Buddenhagen. They were the parents of a son, Harmon Joseph Ahalt. Mherl passed away October 14, 1965, in Frederick, and was buried on the 16th in Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, Frederick County, Maryland.


From the WW2 Draft Registration Card, April 27, 1942: Mherl Eyler Ahalt, 45, of 403 Maple Avenue, Brunswick, Frederick County, Maryland, was born January 23, 1897 in Frederick, Maryland. The person who would always know his address was Mrs. M. E. Ahalt, of the same address. He was employed by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company in Brunswick, Frederick County, Maryland.


Obituary for Mehrle Eyler Ahalt from the Frederick News of Thursday, October 14, 1965:

"Mherl Eyler Ahalt, 68, formerly of Brunswick, died today at the Monocacy Nursing Home in Frederick. He was born in Frederick County, a son of the late Harmon L. and Anna Mary Ahalt. He was a retired railroad carman, having worked for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad for 44 years. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Baltimore and Ohio Veterans Brotherhood Lodge 125 and the Brunswick American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Ahalt; one son, HarmonJ. Ahalt of Knoxville, and one sister, Mrs. Ethel G. Porter of Rosemont. Friends may call at the Feete Funeral Home in Brunswick from 7 to 10 p.m. today. Services will be held from the funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. Ralph Miller will officiate and interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown."

"MEHRL E. AHALT. Funeral services for Mehrl Eyler Ahalt of Knoxvillewere held Saturday at the Feete Funeral Home in Brunswick. The Rev. Ralph W. Miller, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church of Brunswick, officiated. Full military honors were in charge of members of Steadman-Keenan Post 96, American Legion, of Brunswick. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery at Middletown."
