American Revolutionary War Figure. A fourteen-year-old boy, he was killed during the British retreat from Concord on the first day of the American Revolution, one of fifty Americans either killed or mortally wounded on that day. As he peered out of a window of his family's house near Prospect Hill in Charlestown (now part of Somerville), he was mistaken for a sniper by a British regular, and was shot dead in the neck. His actual burial place is unknown.
