FRED BODIN, VILAS, DIES
Services for early settler were held Wednesday
Fred Bodin passed away at his home here early Tuesday morning. Mr. Bodin had been ailing for some time. He was one of the early settlers here coming from Sweden to this place and settling on a farm two miles west of here where he lived until moving to Vilas several years ago.
He was admired by all for his fine Christian character.
He leaves to mourn his departure his aged wife and four children. He was an active member of the Lutheran church at this place.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon being in charge of Rev. Engstrand, his pastor. He spoke in Swedish especially for Mrs. Bodin, who is also past 80 years and who was able to attend in a wheelchair. Mr. and Mrs. Bodin were married more than fifty-seven years ago.
Rev. Engstrand gave the main address in English. A choir gave several selections. Rev. Engstrand was assisted by Rev. C. Brixey Wilson and Rev. A. E. Belstrom of Chanute. The bereaved have the sympathy of the community. Interment was in the cemetery near here.
