Lyndon Walker Comstock was the son of George C. Comstock (1821-1845) and Miranda F. nee Jones. His father, a physician, died at age 23 in Saverton, Missouri--his gravesite is unknown. Lyndon, whose forename derives from a great uncle and middle name from another great uncle, was raised for a time by his grandparents, Brown & Hannah Comstock,in Pittsfield, Illinois. He later rejoined his mother, who had remarried, in Columbus, Indiana. His mother is buried in this cemetery and her biographical information can be seen on the memorial page I've created for her. Lyndon married Charlotte E. Davis on January 3, 1864 in Columbus. He was a dentist who practiced in both Columbus and Indianapolis. He owned and operated the first telephone company in Columbus and later published a newspaper for a time, the Indianapolis Democrat. He was an accomplished amateur photographer who also sketched and painted. In the final years of his life he lived in Indianapolis.
