Mildred Iona Ratcliff Adams, 87, of Max Meadows went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, from her home.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Max Meadows Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. N.R. Taylor and Lewis Arnold officiating.

Interment will be in West End Cemetery, Wytheville.

She was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Wythe County, daughter of the late Zebulon and Lura Stoots Ratcliff.

She was a member of the Max Meadows Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Lawrence Adams; two sisters, Beulah Speer and Edith DeMarteno; and two brothers, Harry Ratcliff and Cecil Ratcliff.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, James William Adams of Max Meadows, Steven "Buddy" and Judy Adams of Roanoke, Helen and Rodney Bussey of Berea, Ky., Barbara and Eddie Bishop of Greenville, S.C., Dennis and Sandy Adams of Statesville, N.C., Sue and Gary Walker of Roanoke, Charles Adams of Max Meadows, Douglas and Esta Adams of Max Meadows, Janet Viars Hayes of Max Meadows, and Alice and Lewis Arnold of Mullens, W.Va.; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Vance and Tempe Ratcliff of Richmond.
