Kathleen Mae Aryes Akin was born on October 28, 1914 in Oklahoma.
Beloved wife, mother and realtive of an extended family, passed away on December 5, 2004 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rhudell Chester Akin in 1989, three sisters, Viola Davis, Sarah Heath and Alice Stancel and one brother, Cecil Aryes.
Kathleen is survived by one brother, Clarence Ayres of California, two sons and two daughters, Rudy and Julie Akins of Pie Town, NM, Carole and Richard Raxton of Annadale, VA, Bill and Shirlee Akin of Camano Island, WA and Rheann Rogers of Checotah, OK, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Kay was first and foremost a mother and homemaker. Kay is revered by all who knew her and especially by her niece, Betty Lakey of Albuquerque, who Kay thought of as her third daughter. Kay was also the favorite aunt-in-law of most of her family.
Viewing will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2004. A graveside service will be held at Sandia Memory Gardens at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2004.
