Harry F. Aicher 91, of Iowa City died peacefully Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Spiegel officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Anthony's Bread at St. Mary's or to Iowa City Hospice.

Harry was born August 6, 1919 in Iowa City, the son of Harry and Zola Colgan Aicher. He was married to the late Laura Parizek. On July 6, 1966 he married Louise Ihrig in Davenport.

Harry was a well-known area real estate agent from 1975 until his retirement at the age of 80 in 1999. For 28 years Harry was a sales representative with the W.R. Grace (Walnut Grove) Feed and Fertilizer Co. and farmed east of Iowa City.

Harry was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree and Bishop Cosgrove Assembly 4th degree. Harry had a strong work ethic and was generous to others. He enjoyed sports, especially the Hawkeyes and playing euchre with his cronies. Harry was an original member of the Pigskin Pickers. Most important to Harry was family.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the staff at Mercy Hospital, especially in ER, ICU, fourth floor and Telemetry.

Harry is survived by his wife Louise of Iowa City; his daughter Terre (Richard) Dolphin of North Liberty and his son Michael Aicher of Solon; four step-children to whom Harry was a loving father, Brian Ihrig of Iowa City, Cynthia (John) Lee of Davenport, Laura Ihrig and Nina Ihrig, both of Coralville; three grandchildren Lora (Patrick) Dolphin-Leahy, Julia (Eddie) Huffman and Jeffrey (Deb) Dolphin; four step grandchildren Jennifer (Kevin) Krzmarzick, Jonathan (LaDonna) Lee, Damien (Lori) Ihrig and Alexas Ihrig; eight great grandchildren Elizabeth and Abigail Huffman,Oscar and August Ihrig, Roman and Lincoln Krzmarzick and Maddux and Lauren Lee; three siblings Thomas Aicher of Albuquerque, NM, Phyllis Hopp and Richard (Rita) Aicher, both of Iowa City.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Laura and their two daughters Barbara Jean and Debbie Sue in 1962, two brothers William and Jack and his sister Dorothy Quinn.
