Sadie Hagler was born on the Hagler homestead, which was about 2 miles SE of the town of Milton,Iowa, on September5, 1870. Sadie was one of five children born to David Blackburn and Lydia (Holland) Sollenbarger.

Having graduated from high school, Sadie sat for an examination to become a teacher in Van Buren County. In August of 1896 she received her certificate. She would meet her husband, David Thomas Sollenbarger in the school district. He was the superintendent at her school and who was from Wayne County, Iowa. David and Sadie would be married the at her father‘s Milton home in 1897 and eventually would settle in Corydon, Iowa.
Her siblings were Lulu Laura (1866-1893), William (Willie) Cleveland (1868-1934) and Elisha Marion (1876-1907). her mother Lydia died shortly after Laurence (1887-1946) was born and she was responsible for much of his upbringing.

After her husband passed away in 1943, she lived with her son, Earl Hagler Sollenbarger and his family in Blue Island, Illinois until her death in 1965.
