John McKim

John McKim, 82, of North Platte, passed away Aug. 27, 2011, at Linden Court. He was born Nov. 3, 1928, at Gothenburg to Lowell and Lillie (Reynolds) McKim. Jack graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Elaine (Gloe) Gewecke on January 29, 1951, at Gothenburg.
Jack served in the United States Army from 1951 until his discharge in 1953. He was hired by UPPR later that year, and worked there until his retirement as engineer in 1990.
He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #985, P.R. Halligan Post #163 of the American Legion, Royal Order of the Moose, Platte Valley Lodge 32 A.F & A.M. Survivors include his loving wife Elaine (Gloe) of North Platte; children, Larry McKim of North Platte, Leann McKim of Denver, and Linda Wilson of North Platte; brother, Harlan McKim of Lebanon, N.H.; sister, Susie Rassmussen of Reno, Nev., and grandchildren, Casey and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Elaine, Connie, Lowell, Donald and Gail. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
