OSCAR BARNETT

JOHNSON CITY, TN - Oscar Barnett, 91, of Cedar Grove Road, died Monday, February 19, 2001 in Erwin Healthcare Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late J.W. and Isabell Arrowood Barnett. He was the owner of the College Shoe Shop near ETSU in Johnson City.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lewis Barnett of the home; two sons, Riley Barnett of Bristol, TN and Wesley Barnett of Newland, NC; three daughters, Birdie Pitman of Marion, NC, Vergie Bahn of Raleigh, NC, and Brenda Forbes of Linden; two brothers, Chester Barnett of Bristol, TN, and Roy Barnett of Willis,TX; two sisters, Pearl Kennedy of Richmond, VA and Julie Renfro of Bakersville, NC; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home. Rev. D.C. Byrd officiated. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
