Mrs. Melissa Kuhn Brabban, 88, a retired educator and mother of Ralph Brabban, assistant superintendent of Kanawha County schools, died Sunday in Morris Memorial Hospital at Milton after a long illness.
Mrs. Brabban, a resident of 682 Forest Circle in South Charleston, had taught school in Boone and Fayette Counties and was principal of Edison Elementary and Junior High School in South Charleston in 1931.
She was the widow of Arnold Brabban, chief of police in South Charleston in the 1930s and 1940s.
Surviving in addition to the son is a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Tidler of Wilmington, N. C.
The body is at Snodgrass Funeral Home.

Service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in South Charleston with the Rev. Daniel Light officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston. Mrs. Brabban, 88, of South Charleston died Sunday in Morris Memorial Hospital in Milton.
