FINAL RITES HELD DEC.1 FOR AL ATKINSON
A.E. Atkinson of San Angelo, Texas died Sunday, November 29, 1998 at Angelo Community Hospital in San Angelo. He was 88 years of age. Mr. Atkinson was born July 14, 1910 at Mullin, Texas, the son of Louis Crawford Atkinson and Lelia Wesley (Smith) Atkinson. He married Lillie B. Wilkins on June 15, 1934 at Goldthwaite, Texas. Mr. Atkinson was a Methodist. He lived in the west Texas area for 35 years. He worked on ranches and at the Electric Co-Op in Eldorado. He served as a volunteer fire fighter while living in Eldorado. He was a retired government trapper. He was a Master Mason for 44 years. Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers. Survivors are his wife, Lillie Atkinson of San Angelo; three children, Charlene Atkinson of Stephenville, Sherry Robison of Carlsbad and Alvin Edward Atkinson Jr. of Robinson; five grandchildren, Chris Gartman, Jerry Gartman, Keith Gartman, Audra Atkinson and Heath Atkinson; ten great grandchildren, Valerie Gartman, Christal Little, Tiffany Nowlin, Keaj Gartman, Casey Gartman, Lara Gartman, Colton Clay Atkinson, Dillon Lane Atkinson, Chase Baze, and Garrett Baze; one great great grandchild, Haiden Lane Little; and two sister, Marietta Edmondson of San Saba and Dorothy Cross of Del Rio. The fineral was conducted Tuesday, December 1, 1998 at 3:00 p.m. at the Satacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel in Goldthwaite. Rev Jack Vaughan officiated at the final rites. Interment was in the Oakview Cemetery, Mullin, Mills County, Texas. Serving as pallbearers were Glynnis (Pete) Egger, Jim Berry, Clayton Cross, Joe Atkinson, Jeff Berry, Zane Wyerts,and Kenneth Hale.
