An Adrian Man became Hillsdale County's sixth traffic fatality of the year Thursday.
Sheldon Burt, 71, of 613 Toledo Street was killed in a single car accident at 3 p.m. on Prattville Road at Lime Lake Road in Wright Township. According to Jonesville State Police, the car failed to negotiate a curve and rolled over three and one half times. It traveled 247 yards from the roadway, state police said. Mr. Burt was alone in the car.
Mr. Burt was born Feb. 22, 1896, in Clayton and was married to Elizabeth V. Henning April 6, 1931, in Clayton.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Clayton; a life member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Hudson Masons.
He farmed in Clayton and worked for Standard Oil for ten years. He moved to Adrian in 1950 where he was employed by the Ace Hardware Company until his retirement in 1962.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Vera Louise) McFarland of Adrian; a sister, Mrs. Neil (Frances) Every of Adrian, and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Everiss Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Dover Cemetery.
