Ellen Green Darrohn, widow of Morris R. Darrohn, formerly of Rush, died Sunday, November 16th, at her home, No. 211 Aldins street, Rochester, aged 77 years.
Mrs. Darrohn was a descendant of one of the oldest New England families, tracing her ancestry to men who were in the forefront of the Revolutionary forces. She was born at Rush, October 16, 1847, and attended Genesee Wesleyan Seminary at Lima. Oct. 26, 1871, she married Morris R. Darrohn, a veteran of the Civil war. Her mother, Rachael Perry Green, was a daughter of Elnathan Perry, who served with Lafayette, took part in six important battles and was an eye witness of the surrender of Burgoyne and Cornwallis. Mrs. Darrohn was the late of the grandchildren of Jabez Green, who was born in Coventry, R.I., in 1762. Her father, Nathan Green, was the youngest son of Jabez Green, who, during the Revolutionary war, was with Sullivan in his expedition against the Indians in the Genesee county. After the war, Jabez Green, with two brothers, came to this section and settled here permanently.
Mrs. Durrohn leaves four sons, Perry S. Darrohn and Morris Donald Darrohn of Rocherster, Everett G. Darrohn of Scottsville and Joseph F. Darrohn of Honeoye Falls; three daughters, Mrs. William C. Faugh, Mrs. Le Roy F. Beers and Miss Anna Darrohn, all of Rochester; also fourteen grandchildren.
The funeral services were held from her late home, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was made in Pine Hill Cemetery, East Rush, where five generations of the Jabez Green family are resting.
