Jessie Anchustegui, of 722 N. 8th, Boise passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998 Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Rosary. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.on Friday, Sept. 25, 1998 at our Lady of Rosary. Burial will take place at 5:00 p.m. at the Shoshone Cemetery- Shoshone, Idaho. Services are under the direction of Gibson Funeral Home.

Jessie was born and raised near Shoshone, Idaho. Basque was her first language. She completed the 8th grade then went to work at a Basque Boarding House in Shoshone. She then went to work at a rootbeer stand in Boise for her Uncle Amoto and Aunt Rose Odiaga. At the age of 19, she married Eusebio Anchustegui. Together they bought a farm outside and raised three children by running a sheep business. As it grew, they bought a summer range near Stanley. Jessie made delicious bread (fried bread, her specialty)and cooked for her family and all of the hired men. She moved to Boise in 1958, bought the Apartment house kitty corner from St. John's and ran it for 40 years. She furnished the apartment with treasures from her
bidding escapades at the Main Auction...every Saturday.

She was survived by her siblings, Dick Elorrieta of Jerome, Idaho and Evelyn Yragui of Twin Falls: her children Alex Anchustegui of Shoshone, Idaho: Jan Barayasarra of Olean, N.Y. and Rosita Skoro of Boise; grandchildren Justin Anchustegui of Boise, Ann Marie Anchustegui of Boise, Latif Chafik of Morocco, Christina Baire of Olean, N.Y. Lisa Whittaker of Buffalo, N.Y. Mary Ann Besser of Pittsburgh, Pa, Elisabeth Skoro of Boise and Emily Skoro of Boise.: 23 great grandchildren.
