Hawk Run - Funeral services were held on Saturday at Strange and Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, for Edward R. conklin, 86, of Hawk Run, who died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at noon at the home of his daughter, Shirley G. Freeman of Olanta.
Mr. Conklin was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Magnuson.

HAWK RUN - Edward R. Conklin, 86, of Hawk Run died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at noon at the home of his daughter, Shirley G. Freeman of Olanta.
Born Sept. 29, 1915, in Oak Grove, he was a son of Frank and Frances (Bumbarger) Conklin.
Mr. Conklin was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg. Mr. Conklin had been a coal miner, then had worked for many years for Lauderbaugh and Griest Wholesale Grocery Co. in Philipsburg. After that, he worked for a local strip mining company before establishing Conklin TV Repair Shop, where he was the owner and operator for many years until his retirement.
On Oct. 2, 1936, in Maryland, he wed Ruth (Whiles) Conklin of Hawk Run.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Shirley G. Freeman and her husband, Marlin, of Olanta; three grand- children, Marlin E. Freeman of Ramey, Mark H. Freeman of Luthersburg and Valerie B. Hooven of Olanta; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Conklin was preceded in death by his parents; four sis- ters, Ethel, Pearl, Mae and Madeline; and five brothers, Raymond, Frank, Willis, Bill and Norman.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Strange and Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, with the Rev. Brenda Leigey officiating.
Interment will be at Ashcroft Cemetery, Hawk Run. Friends will be received from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
