Mrs. LaBarre Dies Feb. 7th
Mrs. Aileen C. LaBarre, 77, descendant of Fort Benton pioneer family, died Saturday, Feb. 7th, at the hospital here after being a patient for 12 days.
Funeral services were Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here with Rev. Thomas Tobin of Big Sandy officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
She was born in Port Huron, Michigan, Feb. 17, 1898, daughter of Martin and Catherine Ryan Connelly. She was granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Connelly who came to Fort Benton in 1877 with her family of 10. Her father ranched in Shonkin creek just east of town.
She grew up in Fort Benton and graduated from the local high school in 1917. She married Leo Swanson, in the insurance business here, in 1921. He died in 1924. In 1932 she was married to Hilaire LaBarre, long time Fort Benton businessman. He died in 1961. Mrs. LaBarre had made her home in Fort Benton until her death.
Survivors are two daughters, Virginia Swanson of Great Falls and Mrs. Edwin (Leona) Carmell of Durham, New Hampshire; and four grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives.
