Ira L. Cain was at one time a reporter for the Wichita Falls Times. He was a book reviewer, special feature writer, and entertainment writer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram at the time of his death. He had been an employee of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram since 1937, except for a period when he spent in Europe during World War II. Ira Cain attended Wichita Falls public schools and the old Wichita Falls Junior College. He attended Kemper Military Academy and the University of Texas. He had worked for other area newspapers before joining the Star-Telegram. He married Ouida Spoonts on 19 December 1931 in Wichita Falls. He was a member of the Tarrant Masonic Lodge in Fort Worth, Fort Worth Commandery, Dallas Consistory, Moslah Shrine Temple in Fort Worth, and Fort Worth Press Club. Survivors include his wife; one daughter - Mrs. Ray Buckingham.
