Emmanuel R. Amster, 131 North Barry Street, died today at the Olean General Hospital, following a long illness.
Mr. Amster was born at Glassboro, N.J., February 6, 1874 and had been a resident of Olean for thirty years. He formerly operated the dining room at the Stratton Hotel and The Homestead Tea Room and for the past fifteen years was chef at Pickup's Restaurant. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge of Smethport.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary P. Willson and one son, Joseph R. Amster, Olean; two grandsons, Robert P. Willson, Hinsdale and Joseph G. Amster, Smethport; one granddaughter, Mary Frances Amster, Olean and one great-granddaughter, Andrea Gail Willson, Hinsdale and one brother, Nehemiah Amster, Pottstown, Pa. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Rev. Carlyle T. Boynton, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
