Alfreda "Alfie" Drake Franklin, 56, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove.

Born Nov. 17, 1946, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Orville L. and Ruth (Grigsby) Franklin.

Survivors include her parents, of Shelbyville; one son, Rick (wife, Christy) Drake of Taylorsville; three brothers, Joseph Franklin, Stephen Franklin and Thomas Franklin, all of Shelbyville; and four grandchildren, Andy Drake, Elizabeth Drake, Eric Drake and Abby Drake, all of Taylorsville.

She was preceded in death by one son, Scott Drake, and one daughter, April Drake.

Mrs. Franklin was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; Flat Rock Eastern Star; Democratic Club, where she was president; and the auxiliaries of Shelbyville Moose Lodge, Eagle's Lodge, and American Legion.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with an Eastern Star service at 8 p.m., today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
