Edmund Young (Ned) Bennion was born to Adam S. and Minerva Young Bennion on September 10, 1923. He passed away on March 25, 2007 at his home in Salt Lake City.
Ned was a native Salt Laker. He attended East High and the University of Utah. He was active in sports, especially tennis and golf. He was involved in student politics as Junior President at East, and Freshman President and Sophomore Treasurer at the U. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, completing flight school and serving as a pilot instructor flying B-25's, B-26's, and A-26's.
Ned married the love of his life, Betty Jean Lusty. They had dated off and on since high school and were married in Pampa, Texas on September 6, 1944. She moved with him through many states and air bases in the U.S. They returned to Salt Lake in September 1945.
Ned then went to work for Jim Hogle at J.A Hogle & Co. and remained in the investment business for forty-two years until his retirement. He served as Hogle's office manage in Ogden, UT for six years, Hogle's office manager in Tucson, AZ for six years, Hogle's office manager in Salt Lake for four years, Goodbody & Co. (successor to Hogle) for four years, and with Merrill Lynch (successor to Goodbody) for some seventeen years, retiring in 1987 as manager of the Salt Lake Office.
During his career he was actively involved with the National Association of Security Dealers, serving on local committees and as a national director from 1970-1973. He served on United Way drives, was president of the Utah Heart Association, and was active with NASD security arbitrations for many years.
Upon retirement, Ned and Betty traveled extensively and visited many of the great spots this world has to offer. Betty was his constant companion and made his life fulfilling.
He is survived by Betty, his beloved wife of sixty-two years; one daughter, Ann Bennion Robinson, one granddaughter, Kristen Robinson Evers (Matt), four wonderful great-grandsons, Andrew (8), Spencer (7), Nathan (5), Matthew (2), and a beautiful baby great-granddaughter, Lauren. Also survived by his sister, Phyllis Stohl, McLean, Virginia; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Adam Y. and Richard Y. (Lucy), and sister, Marian Rogers.

Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the Federal Heights Ward Chapel, 1300 East Fairfax Road, on Wednesday, March 28, 2007. A viewing will be held from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., with the services at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
