He was born January 16, 1928, at Bellaire, Kansas, the son of Roy Oral and Katie Derr Kiddoo Shellito. He moved to Dodge City, Kansas with his family from St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1980.
Arthur worked as a meat grader for the USDA. In 1948, he joined the United States Marines and served until 1952.
He attended the First Christian Church and was a member of the American Legion.
On May 21, 1950, he married Mildred Grogg at the Community Church in Gaylord, Kansas. She Survives.
Other survivors include 2 sons, Steven Shellito and wife, Becky, St. Joseph, Missouri, Dennis Shellito and wife, Jeannine, Dodge City, Kansas; a brother, Raymond Shellito, Lebanon, Kansas; 2 sisters, Frances Hill, Hutchinson, and Katherine Hill, Independence, Kansas; 5 grandchildren, Ben Shellito, Jake Shellito, Kyle Shellito, Mandy Dewey and Adam Harvison; great-granddaughter Harper Shellito.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold Cleo and Alfred Shellito, and two grandchildren Annetta and Carrie Shellito.
Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Benton Cemetery in Mound City, Missouri, with Dr. Darrell R. Jones presiding.
