Erma "Granny" Abernathy, age 81, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday August 17, 2011 at home with family. She was born January 26, 1930 at Pencil Bluff to Eva Leonard Edwards and Hershel W. Edwards. Erma worked as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Eugene Abernathy; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Willie Crumpton; two sons, Roger and Randy Abernathy; and one brother, James David Edwards. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, a daughter-in-law of Malvern; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; her three brothers and sisters-in-law and two sisters of Hot Springs. She was also survived by three brothers-in-law and their spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews.
