Obituary of Trevella I. Abbott

Trevella I. Abbott, 76, widow of Robert L. Abbott, a resident of Crescent Blvd., Bennington, Vermont died suddenly Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Born in Kewanee, Illinois on December 23, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Darlene Royse. Trevella received her education in Weathersfield, Illinois and was a 1953 graduate of Westhersfield High School.

A former resident of Long Beach, Mississippi, she was employed by Mississippi Power Company in Gulfport, Mississippi for over 30 years. Following the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Travella moved to Bennington to be near her family.

Since residing in Bennington she attended services at the Second Congregational Church and volunteered both as an usher with the Oldcastle Theatre Company, and at the Bennington Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed living life to the fullest and always wanted to be on the go. She and her daughter enjoyed antiquing and traveling and good food.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Colin Moore of Bennington; two grandchildren, Liam and Isabella Moore and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A short memorial service celebrating the life Trevella I. Abbott will be held at the Second Congregational Church in Bennington on Saturday, September 3rd at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Mary Lee Clark, pastor, officiating.

Burial will take place at Long Beach City Cemetery at a later date.
