Afra Geerlings, a resident of Buckingham, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Doylestown Hospital. She was 91.
She was the wife of Nicholas H. Geerlings, who died in 1997.
Born in Voorholt, Netherlands, she was the daughter of the late Johannes and Margaritha Dijkers Lakeman.
She and her husband immigrated to the United States in 1950 and settled in Pineville.
Afra will be remembered as the best Mom, Oma and wife. She will be sadly missed by her family.
Surviving is a son, Herman J. Geerlings and his wife, Patricia White, of Warrington and a daughter, Margaret Goldsmith and her husband, Mark, of Pineville. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jeannette Geerlings, Jeanine Cartin, Katie Goldsmith-Tompkins and Tracy Goldsmith and her five great-grandchildren, Nicky, Brianna, Molly, Madison and Lily, who always made her day.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to Mass. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Doylestown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Afra's name may be made to The Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 827790, Philadelphia, PA 19182-7790.
