Charles Goldsborough (1765-1834) - Find a Grave Memorial

U.S. Congressman, Maryland Governor. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, in 1784, studied law, was admitted to the bar 1790 and held several state local political offices. He was a member of the Maryland State Senate, (1791-95), 99-1801). In 1805, he was elected as a Federalist to the Ninth Congress Congress and to the next five succeeding Congresses, serving until 1817. In 1818, he was elected as a Federalist the 16th Governor of Maryland, serving until 1819. After his term, he retired from public life and lived on his estate until his death at age 69. He also was the great-grandfather of Congressman Thomas Alan Goldsborough.
