Miss Sarah " Sallie " Ann was born as the 2nd child of Emma Jane ( Frazier ) and Benjamin Franklin Vaughn. She was born in Vermont Township, Fulton County, Illinois.

Mother Emma was 21 years old & Father Franklin was 26 years old at the time of her birth. Sarah was also welcomed to the family by her brother Ross who was 14 months old when she was born.

"Sallie" became the nickname of Sarah and "Sallie" was what she went by for the majority of her life.

Sarah was born on a farm in Vermont Township. She came to McDonough County as a small child and spent the remainder of her life in the Industry community.

She met and then later married John William Kellum on January 31, 1904 in Fulton County, Illinois.

Sallie Ann was 25 years old & John William was 26 years old on the day of their marriage.

To this union was born one son, Kenneth Franklin Kellum.

Sallie had a large garden, plus access to berries and fruit. The summers were spent harveting & canning the produce. During the cold winter months, the canned supplies were a daily staple.

In 1925 She joined the Methodist Church located in Doddsville, McDonough County, Illinois.

Sarah & John welcomed a Daughter into their lives when their son Kenneth was married on August 10, 1929 to Vera Alberta Plank.

Sarah became a Grandmother on September 25, 1930 when the first of two Granddaughters came into her life.

When John retired in 1944, they sold the farm ground and moved to Industry, Illinois.

Sarah had been in failing health for the last six years of her life. Her condition steadily worsened the last six weeks of her life, until she passed away on March 10, 1945.

Sarah " Sallie " Ann ( Vaughn ) Kellum was 66 years and 3 days old when she passed away.

She had been blessed with 41 years of Marriage to her beloved husband John William Kellum.

Clugston Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements. Services were held in the Industry Methodist Church, with the Rev. Frank Friesland officating. Burial was at the Industry Cemetery, where she was laid to rest at 2:30 p.m. on March 12, 1945.
