Norma attended rural schools in Phelps County and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1930. She then attended The University of Nebraska at Kearney and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she received her Teaching Certificate. Norma then taught schools in Phelps County and Ogallala, Nebraska.
In 1954, Norma was united in marriage to Bert Anderson. The coupled moved to California in October 1954. Here Norma became the Children's Librarian for the Turlock Public Library in 1961 until her retirement in 1975. While living in California, Norma attended the Evangelical Free Church of Turlock and was active in Women's Ministries and Pioneer Girls. Bert passed away on June 8, 1976.
After Bert's death, Norma moved back to Holdrege where she was confirmed and became a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Holdrege. There she was the Sunday School Secretary and also taught Sunday School for many years.
Besides her parents and husband, Bert, Norma was preceded in death by three sisters: Mildred Baker, Grace Nelson, Lois Gibbs; and nephew, Richard Baker.
Norma is survived by: step children: Neal Anderson of Melbourn, Arkansas, Frank Anderson of Mina, Neveda, Beverly Yerby and her husband, Randy of Turlock, California; step-grandchildren: James Anderson, Linda Manhartsberger and her husband, Fred, Denise McMillan, Eric Yerby, Tiffany Yerby, Brett Anderson; nieces and nephews: Janet Stevens and her husband, Ron of Holdrege, Robert Nelson and his wife, Renee of Holdrege, Betty Hanson and her husband, Wayne of Omaha, Nebraska, Mary Stiller and her husband, Stewart of Kansas City, Kansas, Joan Baker of Breckenridge, Colorado and a host of relatives and friends.
Burial was in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, NE.
